Join us in stunning South Australia as we head to the inspiring landscapes of the Flinders Ranges.

Join us for a week in the inspiring landscapes of the Flinders Ranges walking on country of the Adnyamathanha people, follwonig the trails in and around Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park including the spectacular Wilpena Pound. 

Along the way, local indigenous guide will introduce us to the indigenous history and culture; we will learn about the pioneering history of the region; visit a rock art site and watch the colours of this amazing landscape change as the sun rises and sets each day.

This seven-day walking tour takes you into the heart of outback Australia, with the first and last nights staying in a 4-star hotel in Adelaide’s fashionable East End with the intervening four nights in superior accommodation on an historic sheep station.  The tour includes five guided walks.  It starts with dinner at Adelaide's most awarded Italian restaurant and finishes with a delicious lunch in the vineyards of one the Clare Valley's finest wineries.

Please note, this tour follows the Hidden Italy McLaren Vale + Adelaide Hills tour.  If you join both, Hidden Italy will cover the for the extra night in a 4-star hotel in the centre of Adelaide.

The first and last nights' accommodation is in a 4-star, boutique hotel in the popular East End of Adelaide.  For the four nights in the Flinders Ranges, we will be staying in very comfortable, superior twin share cabin-style accommodation in an historic sheep station on the edge of Wilpena Pound.  Each cabin has an ensuite bathroom, air-conditioning, TV and wifi (for better or worse!).

A hearty breakfast is included daily.  Lunch and dinner are also provided each day. The tour starts with a degustation dinner at Adelaide's most-awarded Italian restaurant.  Breakfast and dinner will be taken at our accommodation's own restaurant.  We finish the tour with a lazy lunch in the middle of the vineyards of one of the Clare Valley's finest wineries.  Wine is included with the meals.

The tour includes a range of walks from moderate walks to more challenging hikes up Rawnsley bluff. The terrain in the Flinders is rocky, loose underfoot and at times requires a scramble so you’ll need to be reasonably fit, wear good quality hiking boots and have walking poles.  See the itinerary for details.  You will be accompanied on the walks by two professional guides.

All aspects of the tour will comply with the South Australian government recommended health, safety and cleanliness procedures. including: the maintenance of social distancing (in the accommodation; in the transport; at meal-times and during activities); regular deep cleaning of the accommodation and transport, compulsory hand sanitizer use entering and leaving the accommodation, transport and restaurants.  Each member of the group will be provided with surgical face masks, disposable gloves and a bottle of hand sanitiser.

Booking conditions:

We require a $500 per person non-refundable deposit to confirm the booking.  Should government COVID-19 travel restrictions prevent the tour from operating, the tour will be rescheduled.  In the event the new dates are not suitable, you will have the option of a credit note for the amount paid which can be used towards future tours or a full refund, minus the deposit which will be held as credit for future tours.  Click here for full T&C’s

The tour leader:

The tour will lead by Kim Sutton. Kim is a qualified outdoor leader with a huge passion for fungi, plants and culture in particular of our First Nations People. Kim brings energy, light and warm hospitality to all guests in her care. She is studying Adventure and Eco Tourism in addition to leading multi day walks in the Flinders Ranges, Kangaroo Island and Yorke Peninsula in South Australia.

Kim recently completed the last leg of the Heysen Trail, the iconic, 1200 kilometres trail that starts in Cape Jervis and finishes at the Parachilna Gorge in the Flinders Ranges.  Her other achievements are numerous, including’ lapping’ Australia with her young family in a four-wheel drive.  She is also great company and a very nice person.
